Full responsibility for global logistics * Strategic and holistic approach * Annual turnover of over DKK 2 billion
VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S leads its field and the mission is clear: “We protect and save lives all over the world”.
VIKING develops and delivers game-changing solutions for the world’s largest cruise ships and ferries, as well as cargo vessels and oil rigs operating from the Arctic to the tropics. It’s a dynamic and inspiring workplace where you’ll be surrounded by competent colleagues from many different nations.
We’re looking for a Global Logistics Director to take things to the next level – assisted by a large team of highly skilled and committed employees in our Inbound Logistics, Outbound Logistics, Shipping and Warehousing departments.
VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has one of the most complex flows of goods, as their customers are located all around the globe – with the majority of them constantly on the move. Having more than 30,000 active items – both sourced and self-produced – demands a strong global logistical setup that keeps everything accessible at 288 servicing locations.
As the new Global Logistics Director, you will report directly to the COO, closely collaborate with Global Sourcing and factories located in Denmark, Bulgaria and Thailand, and work with commercial departments, too.
A proven track record with a strategic mindset
This position is much more than just shipping items around the globe. It’s also about leading people, managing projects and taking a strategic approach to optimising warehousing, distribution and delivery performance through cost-effective solutions.
You must be well qualified within logistics and have worked in a complex, global organisation where reliable and efficient delivery is paramount. You have worked closely with an ERP system, preferably SAP, and know the importance of process-driven control throughout the supply chain.
- You are a strong leader who likes to take charge and see things progress
- You can balance between the big picture and the details
- You recognize that success often lies in being able to understand a process and involving people at the right stages
- You are fluent in spoken and written English, and preferably have a working knowledge of Danish.
VIKING is located in Esbjerg – the center of a thriving region with a strong business environment, outstanding nature and plenty of opportunities for sports and cultural events. You are expected to live in reasonable driving distance from Esbjerg or be willing to relocate. A moderate number of travel days abroad should be expected.
