From the site in Västerås, technical experts and scientists have worked with industries worldwide in cross-disciplinary R&D projects and technical investigations, for more than one hundred years. 

The role

As Manager of the Chemistry & Materials department within Technology Consulting you will lead and coach a team of around 15 people, all highly skilled engineers engaged in both cable related R&D projects as well as consulting assignments related to different material challenges. They are working in a modern chemistry & materials laboratory that has a broad range of state-of-the-art analytical instruments and processing equipment that provides great flexibility and capability to support in R&D projects and technical investigations. Your team within NKT Technology Consulting works with various customers, both internal and external.

The role includes:

  • Securing and development of departments competence base by actively working with people´s development and recruitment
  • Secure professional operations of the department
  • Secure operational results incl financial result
  • Budget responsibility for the department
  • Facilitate and secure high-quality results and delivery in R&D projects and customer assignments
  • Look for technology and market opportunities to bring the department forward
  • Secure excellent collaboration between departments and best in class operation of the whole site as part of TC management team
  • Build and develop strong relationships within NKT and with external customers
  • Develop and secure lab infrastructure
  • Ensure operations and safety in department laboratories

Apart from this you do also have:

  • PhD degree or MSc with at least 5 years working experience, preferably in area of Materials or Chemistry
  • Proven management skills
  • Hands on experience in Material characterization and analysis
  • Project management
  • Experience from R&D is meritorious
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, meritorious also in Swedish
