Government Affairs Senior Manager, Norway

Government Affairs Senior Manager, Norway

British American Tobacco

On behalf of our client, British American Tobacco, we are searching for a Government Affairs Senior Manager, Norway.

BAT has a clear ambition to lead the transformation of the industry by offering adult consumers a range of potentially reduced-risk products.

An unprecedented confluence of technology, societal change and public health awareness has created a unique opportunity: the opportunity to make a substantial leap forward in BAT’s long-held ambition to provide their consumers with potentially reduced-risk tobacco and nicotine choices. BAT calls this ambition Transforming Tobacco and is fully committed to lead this transformation.

BAT’s purpose is to build A Better Tomorrow by reducing the health impact of their business by offering a greater choice of enjoyable and less risky products for their consumers.

The strategy is about anticipating and satisfying the ever-evolving consumer: providing pleasure, reducing risk, offering an increasing choice, and stimulating the senses of adult consumers worldwide.

Recently, BAT has announced several stretching targets that they are confident will accelerate their purpose to deliver A Better Tomorrow for all their stakeholders, including:

  • increasing their consumers of non-combustible products to 50 million by 2030
  • achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and accelerating their existing environmental targets to 2025

Want to be a part of building a better tomorrow?

BAT is committed to building A Better Tomorrow by developing and transforming the use and consumption of tobacco and nicotine products.

While the total tobacco and nicotine market globally comprises a growing user pool of over one billion individual adult consumers, global trends are shifting, and the industry is experiencing a period of rapid change. Generational differences, as well as shifting attitudes towards health and wellness, are expected to increase the growth of new categories of products including and beyond tobacco and nicotine.

These global trends also affect the Nordic markets, and BAT is looking for an experienced Government Affairs professional to develop external affairs strategies as well as manage and drive BAT’s engagement in Norway.

Maybe the most exciting Government Affairs role in the Nordics

As Government Affairs Senior Manager, you will join the Nordic Legal and External Affairs (LEX) department. The role is based in Oslo where you will have your physical office but as a part of a Nordic team with colleagues in Oslo, Stockholm and Nordic headquarter in Copenhagen.

BAT excel in developing their people and are extremely proud of what they offer their employees, working hard to ensure the best possible standards – which have earned BAT the Top Employer certificate for 10 consecutive years – including this year.

As Government Affairs Senior Manager, you will work in close collaboration with the business and have a huge impact on the decisions being made. The tobacco industry is ever so changeable, and you will be challenged in your ability to navigate and give sound advice in a complex regulatory and political reality. Through your work, you will impact the future of BAT in Norway by contributing to the public debate with facts and ideas to help regulators address the key issues facing the industry.

Are you ambitious, have an entrepreneur mindset and do you want to be a part of this journey?

We are searching for a candidate who wants to be part of a unique journey and to use their experience in a broad role where there is potential to think outside of the box and thereby develop yourself.
