Green Credit Development Manager

Green Credit Development Manager

Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping

Do you like the idea of working in a global environment with the mission to enable the maritime sector to become carbon neutral by 2050? Are you also looking for an opportunity to work with global partners to achieve this goal? Then, we have the job you are looking for.

New established key position in an entrepreneurial organization

Your focus is to work on the methodology for opening the market for green fuels and thus making it interesting for both end-customers of shipping services, ship owners and other stakeholders within the industry to embark on a greener path for the shipping industry involving new marketplaces, new types of certificates and credits and a transparent distinction between gray, blue and green fuels.

You will as Green Certificate Development Manager be asked to make a significant contribution towards the establishment of a framework of methodology on how to connect demand for low emission shipping services with a developing, producing, supplying, and consuming low emission shipping fuels.

The job will entail different phases:

  • Analysis of the existing solutions on the market today including other fuel and energy markets like power and renewables and sectors such as aviation and land transportation.
  • Analysis of current regulatory framework outlining opportunities and barriers for certificates methodology.
  • Presenting the findings for the industry and last.
  • the creation of a new instrument to commercialize the “product(s)”.

During all phases it is important to activate the entire value chain of the maritime industry from end customers (cargo owners like Amazon, Apple or the like), energy companies/utilities, ports, ship owners/charters, yards, suppliers (bunker oil industry), the authorities/regulators, and financial institutions (e.g. World Bank etc.).

In this position you will be confronted with a high degree of complexity and many stakeholders from organizations with their own agenda. You will develop a not-existing business model for the maritime industry and ensure fast results and progress that can be presented both to policy makers and key industry stakeholders. Your responsibility is not only to analyze and conclude, but also to ensure that your thoughts/plans can be converted into usable results/tools.

Your role is a key supervisor manager position in the sense that you will lead an area of expertise within the Center as a Subject Matter Expert. This means that the team that you will build up will consist of highly dedicated specialists “lended” from the global partner companies and then posted in the Center for a specified and agreed time period.

Your qualifications

Educationally, you have a M.Sc. degree in engineering, economics or similar. Your professional experience comes from the Renewables industry (P2X, energy trading etc.) or related industries, and brings an understanding of energy supply and maritime value chains, certification processes, trading of commodities and/or certification schemes as financial instruments.

To succeed in this role, you will need a can-do attitude with a willingness to do what it takes in a start-up environment. Also, you will need an analytic mind which can handle a high degree of complexity and uncertainty.  Furthermore, you have a collaborative mindset and proactive in engaging with our partners.
