We’re looking for a Strategic Sourcing Director to take things from Great to Outstanding – assisted by a large team of highly skilled and committed employees working with at global mindset.

VIKING Life-Saving Equipment has one of the most complex flows of goods, as their customers are located all around the globe – with most of them constantly on the move. Having more than 30,000 active items – both sourced and self-produced – demands reliable processes in a complex supply chain, especially given the fact that the solutions is manufactured to save lives.

As the new Strategic Sourcing Director, you will report directly to the VP of Global Logistics, closely collaborating with factories located in Denmark, Norway, Bulgaria, Thailand, China, and Greece. You will head a department of employees located in Denmark and Norway. Furthermore, you will have a dotted line to a team located in VIKING´s Chinese production company.

A proven track record with a strategic mindset

This position should be interesting for a profile that has extensive experience within Category Management. It is expected that the right candidate has a proven track record, of taking a business to the next level within Category Management or Sourcing/ Purchasing in general.  In the position you will be leading people and managing projects. We expect to get a person onboard who can take a strategic approach to optimizing processes & systems, which is a part of the DNA in VIKING. Especially the collaboration with the technical department – where the Product development is made – is important.

You must be well qualified within sourcing and have worked in a modern complex, global organisation. It is a necessity that you have been working within wholesale/manufacturing company.

  • You will manage a high 3-digit mio DKK budget in Yearly spendings – both in direct and in-direct purchase
  • You can balance between the big picture and the details
  • You recognize that success often lies in being able to understand a process and involving people at the right stages
  • Solution oriented with focus on quality and total cost aspect
  • You can develop supplier relations into partnership´s as well as using dual supply
  • You like to work proactively together with stakeholders (Internally as external)
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English
  • You are a skilled negotiator – who knows how to serve the organisation with strong contracts & support your organization with same

VIKING is in Esbjerg – the center of a thriving region with a strong business environment, outstanding nature and plenty of opportunities for sports and cultural events. You are expected to live in reasonable driving distance from Esbjerg or be willing to relocate. A moderate number of travel days abroad should be expected.
