About the job and responsibilities

The Technical Director is the technical guarantor of the continuous operations of the shopping centers in Steen & Strøm in compliance with the engineering and technical services, security, and safety standards of the Group. You will also be responsible for deploying, monitoring and reporting on the technical side of Steen & Strøms CSR and Act for good strategy -including getting the proper certifications such as ISO 14001, GRESB, and BREEAM.

In this role you will be reporting to the Head of Operations, Scandinavia, who is located in Malmö. As Technical Director you will be leading one CSR Manager and one Compliance & Risk Manager. The position is based in either Emporia, Malmö or in Fields, Copenhagen.

Some of your responsibilities include:

As Technical Director you will define and introduce the right maintenance strategy. You will also be responsible for implementing and monitoring technical standards, including Fire safety compliance, and ensure the safety and longevity of properties. This may include regular inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as implementing new technologies and techniques that can improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.

Further responsibilities:

  • Verify and challenge the multi-year Capex plans drawn up by the technical and shopping centers managers and ensure their application.
  • Review and challenge the work files in the Capex management tool with TracK.
  • Analyze Opex budgets in relation to technical matters, check consistency between shopping centers and optimize results.
  • Ensure the technical regulatory watch and the necessary action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with fire protection, safety, security and hygiene regulations at the shopping centers with KOMPLY.


Skills and experience

As an experienced engineer, machinist, or similar professional with a managerial background, you will bring a unique set of skills and qualifications to the table. We see that you have at least 10 years of experience in operation and maintenance, and a strong understanding of the real estate industry.

Your experience in the real estate industry (or similar) has given you a deep understanding of the day-to-day operations and maintenance of complex systems and structures. You have a proven track record of effectively leading teams, planning and executing projects, and achieving results.

You are proactive and strategic in your approach, using an analytical mindset to identify opportunities and develop effective solutions. You are able to approach problems with a clear and logical thought process, considering all options and alternatives before making a decision. Additionally, you have a good business and financial understanding.

As a person, you are characterized by a positive and solution-oriented attitude. You possess good communication skills, both in speech and writing, which enables you to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. We also see that you have a proficiency in one or more of the Scandinavian languages.

The role includes regular travels to the different Scandinavian Shopping Centers and Headquarters.
