Through this search, we are supporting ROCKWOOL in identifying a profile capable of driving some of the organisation’s most complex and business critical CAPEX initiatives.

Role Overview

The Director will join ROCKWOOL’s Group Technology organisation and report directly to the Vice President of Project Execution. The position is based in Hedehusene and includes leadership responsibility for a team of senior project managers and project directors located across Denmark, Poland, Germany and the Netherlands. The portfolio covers both new production line installations and major conversion projects supporting sustainability, energy transition and long-term operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Project Leadership.
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of large-scale line and conversion projects — from early concept and design to execution, ramp up and final handover.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and according to defined scope and quality requirements.
  • Drive alignment across engineering, execution, operations and commercial stakeholders.
  • Governance, Performance & Risk Management.
  • Approve project scopes, plans, budgets and schedules, ensuring strong risk mitigation and scenario planning.
  • Promote transparency, structured reporting and adherence to safety, quality and compliance standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts, leveraging lessons learned and best-practice sharing across teams.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, support and develop a team of senior project professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Act as a strategic sparring partner, providing guidance, challenge and support to project managers and directors.
  • Shape team composition and resource allocation in close collaboration with Group Technology leadership.

Portfolio & Resource Management

  • Maintain a clear overview of the full CAPEX project pipeline and anticipate future capacity and competency needs 12–36 months ahead.
  • Balance resources across multiple high value projects to ensure optimal delivery and organisational readiness.

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders — from engineers and factory teams to senior executives, partners and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure strong communication flows and alignment across functions, geographies and project phases.

Project Scope Examples

  • The Director will play a key role in both new line installations (including large factory expansions) and conversion projects focused on sustainability measures such as energy optimisation and green technology upgrades.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate brings 10–15 years of experience from a heavy project environment, preferably within large‑scale CAPEX programmes. In this role, you are expected to draw on a solid project management foundation combined with strong commercial insight and the ability to establish robust governance frameworks. You have a deep understanding of structured project management processes and methodologies, and you have a proven track record of leading senior project professionals while elevating project management maturity across an organisation.

In addition, you communicate with clarity and confidence and engage effectively with stakeholders at all organisational levels, including executive leadership.
