Sustainability Manager, Due Diligence & Sustainability Specialist, Value Chain

We are strengthening our CSDDD expertise in the Sustainability Governance and Performance team for the development and execution of human rights and environmental due diligence processes in line with key international frameworks and upcoming EU regulations. Your location can be either our Helsinki or Stockholm office.

As our Sustainability Manager, Due Diligence you will be responsible for developing and implementing Group-level policies, tools, and frameworks to align St1 operations with EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, OECD Due Diligence guidelines, and UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights and other legal requirements.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute St1 Group-level Sustainability due diligence process on St1 value chains and renewable energy and low carbon fuel development projects, including creating and implementing KPIs and tracking performance.
  • Ownership of human rights and environmental due diligence process and operational tasks together with the Sustainability Specialist and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop supplier audit frameworks, plan and execute supplier audits, and corrective actions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in Value chain Human Rights questions and drive the company’s Value chain Human rights work.
  • Participate in M&A due diligence and support sales and marketing in formulating sustainability-related key messages and participate in customer audits as a SME from sustainability.
  • Contribute to developing the St1 Nordic level sustainability ambition and roadmaps.
  • Participate in the annual sustainability reporting cycle as responsible for CSDDD related content
  • Develop and deliver training and communications related to CSDDD and value chain Human rights topics.

You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and executing sustainability due diligence and management in a business setting. You should understand key international legislation and frameworks and have experience in translating them into business requirements. Experience in tools and sources of information for human rights risk evaluation and the capability to manage value chain 3rd party audits and impact assessments is essential. You take a hands-on approach to sustainability implementation, excelling in both transforming complex regulatory requirements into actionable business strategies and practical execution. Your experience shows success in maintaining effective cross-organizational partnerships. You are an accomplished communicator, capable of presenting, discussing, and conveying complex information and have ability to develop and execute actionable proposals and unified solutions.

As our Sustainability Specialist, Value Chain you will be responsible for implementing risk assessments and due diligence practices in value chains and renewable energy and low carbon fuel development projects. Your role is essential in coordinating audits, developing sustainability processes, and contributing to group-wide sustainability governance systems.

What you will do

  • Execute operational tasks regarding human rights and environmental due diligence.
  • Plan and execute supplier audits and corrective actions together with Sustainability Manager.
  • Coordinate sustainability impact assessments and relevant third-party risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement sustainability due diligence processes and KPIs.
  • Contribute to group-level policies, tools, and frameworks aligning with international and EU sustainability directives.
  • Participate in annual sustainability reporting cycles and handle customer inquiries related to sustainability.
  • Support sales and marketing as a SME from sustainability related to key messages and customer requirements.
  • Participate in developing training and communications related to value chains and projects sustainability.

You have 1-5 years of experience in executing and developing sustainability efforts, particularly in sustainability due diligence. Ideally you have a solid understanding of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP), value chain and project risk assessment, and third-party due diligence systems and tools. You should be capable of managing and independently conducting audits and impact assessments, using external data sources to provide well-balanced guidance for mitigating value chain sustainability risks. Your project management skills, and the ability to quickly absorb and share information is an asset.

The roles necessitate a collaborative approach and the ability to work under tight deadlines. We expect you to possess an analytical mindset and a commitment to sustainability. Proficiency in English is required, with skills in Swedish and/or Finnish considered as an advantage. You should excel in dynamic environments where business operations continuously evolve, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and adaptation.

Both positions will report to the Head of Sustainability Performance within the Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Group Function.
