We are now looking for a

Head of Group Accounting

to Shape Group Accounting for a rapidly growing international group.

As our Group continues to grow across the Nordics and beyond, we are seeking an experienced Head of Group Accounting to lead and develop the accounting framework required. This is a key Group Finance role combining hands-on responsibility with a significant development mandate. Rather than stepping into a fully established setup, you will have the opportunity to shape how Group Accounting operates, creating consistent, high-quality and scalable practices for an increasingly international organisation.

Your role

As Head of Group Accounting, you will take overall responsibility for Group consolidation, financial reporting and the continued development of Group-level accounting. The Group currently comprises approximately 75 companies, and ongoing acquisitions continue to shape its structure and reporting requirements. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will be part of a lean and international Group Finance team. You will work closely with the Head of FP&A, local finance teams and auditors to ensure reliable, consistent and high-quality accounting and reporting across the countries.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Owning and continuously developing Group consolidation and related accounting processes
  • Coordinating the monthly Group closing process and contributing to Board and lender reporting
  • Preparing consolidated financial statements and ensuring accurate and high-quality external financial reporting
  • Establishing, documenting and harmonising Group accounting principles and practices across countries
  • Leading the development of the Group’s IFRS readiness and strengthening related accounting capabilities
  • Managing the accounting implications of acquisitions and changes in the Group’s legal structure
  • Taking ownership of complex accounting matters, including purchase price allocations, mergers, demergers and other corporate restructurings
  • Improving the quality, consistency and governance of financial information
  • Working closely with auditors and local finance organisations
  • Acting as the Group-level accounting process owner and a trusted accounting expert for finance teams across the organisation

The role combines ownership of the recurring financial reporting cycle with a substantial development agenda. Particularly in the initial phase, your focus will be on building robust, scalable processes, policies and ways of working.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an accomplished Group Accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with the judgement and confidence required to take ownership of a complex and evolving international consolidation environment. Ideally, you bring:

  • Around 10 years of relevant experience in accounting, consolidation and international Group environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Group consolidation and external financial reporting
  • Experience working with complex and evolving legal Group structures
  • Solid IFRS expertise and the ability to translate accounting requirements into practical Group-wide policies and processes
  • A sound understanding of accounting matters related to acquisitions, purchase price allocations and corporate restructurings
  • Relevant experience from an international corporate environment, listed company, private equity-backed growth company, Big Four firm or another comparable professional services environment
  • Strong Finnish and fluent English language skills

What will help you succeed?

Technical accounting expertise is essential, but equally important is your ability to turn that expertise into practical solutions and better ways of working. You are comfortable moving priorities forward independently. You enjoy creating structure and improving processes rather than simply maintaining what already exists. You can communicate complex accounting matters clearly, helping stakeholders understand not only what needs to be done, but also why.

Why join us?

This is much more than a traditional Group Accounting role. You will join at a point where the future Group Accounting model is still being built. This gives you a genuine opportunity to influence its development, establish standards across the organisation and create structures that can support the Group for years to come. Alongside the professional opportunity, we offer a competitive monthly salary and a performance-based bonus, as well as the opportunity to become a shareholder. Our highly flexible, remote-oriented working model gives you considerable freedom to choose where you work in Finland.
