About the Role
Bavarian Nordic, a leading vaccine production company in Kvistgaard, is seeking an EHS Specialist to join their team. This role is pivotal in balancing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Biorisk Management (BRM), and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to ensure safe working conditions and compliance while maintaining operational excellence.
You will be part of the Drug Substance organization, working under the Senior Director and closely collaborating with the Biosafety Officer. The team currently comprises around 260 members, with plans for further expansion.
Key Responsibilities
As an EHS Specialist, you will work closely with the Biosafety Officer (BSO) to ensure compliance and safety throughout the production area. You will implement necessary safety measures, promote a culture of health and environmental responsibility, and act as the main contact for regulatory bodies and inspectors.
Furthermore, you will manage responses to bio-related incidents, minimizing impact and restoring operations promptly. Partnering with the BSO, you will address chemical, biological, general safety, and biosecurity risks, ensuring aligned health and safety policies.
On the floor, you will implement ergonomics assessments, oversee the handling of hazardous waste, and support chemical spill responses. You will also ensure the safe operation of large-scale production equipment, conduct audits to identify non-compliance and develop risk mitigation strategies. Finally, you will maintain records of incidents and ensure relevant reports are submitted to authorities.
About you
To excel as an EHS Specialist in the Drug Substance organization, you hold a degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field. You possess a deep understanding of local, national, and international regulations and standards related to environmental protection, health, and safety. This includes knowledge of relevant ISO standards, applicable compliance frameworks, and international best practices in a production environment. Experience with GMP/LMS regulations is a plus.
