Furthermore, St1 is advancing various major energy transition projects, including transition investments at the oil refinery in Gothenburg. St1 has 1,150 retail stations in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Together, we’re more than 1,000 curious, committed and caring people here to change the game. Ready to challenge the ordinary with us?

How you’ll help drive the change

Joining St1, you’ll be part of running and developing a profitable business that invests in long-term energy solutions. Together we achieve the extraordinary through everyday work. As Development Manager, LCF Sustainability Compliance, you will focus on contributing to business development projects with expert knowledge of renewable fuels regulation, building up new certification schemes to cover wider share of our value chain, as well as further development and maintaining end-to-end internal sustainability compliance processes.

Based in Helsinki, you’ll report to the Head of LCF Sustainability Compliance. Your work will be done in close collaboration with our customers, partners, supply company NEOT, business technology team, and retail network across the Nordics.

Your daily impact

In your everyday work, you will:

  • Manage and develop expansions to St1 sustainability schemes to ensure best fit to future business requirements.
  • Support St1 energy transition project development with expertise in sustainability compliance requirements.
  • Develop the internal supply chain sustainability compliance process together with supply chain, production, and trading teams.
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end internal sustainability compliance processes.
  • Support the maintenance of sustainability certifications (EU Voluntary Schemes) at the Nordic level.
  • Manage and support audit readiness for annual sustainability certification audits.
  • Develop regulatory analysis as well as monitor regulatory updates in biofuels to understand implications to different St1 value chains.
  • Provide expert input into St1 market intelligence activities through cross-functional working groups.
  • Support St1 sustainability reporting and data governance processes as well as development of sustainability services to our customers.

Your work will be project-driven rather than built around repetitive day-to-day tasks. You will typically lead or contribute to several initiatives at different stages, acting as the project manager who understands the overall regulatory and value-chain context while drawing on detailed expertise from colleagues across the organisation.

What you bring to the team

We’re looking for a collaborative and development-oriented professional who enjoys translating complex sustainability regulations into practical solutions and improving processes across the business. You do not need to be the deepest specialist in every regulation, but you must understand the field well enough to see the bigger picture, ask the right questions and turn expert input into progress.

To thrive in this role, you likely have:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience from the energy industry and sustainability.
  • Experience and understanding of EU Renewable Energy regulation and its implications for the Nordic market as well as basic knowledge of regulatory frameworks and sustainability requirements globally.
  • Experience and knowledge of the renewable energy business and basic knowledge of different energy commodities.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating sustainability and/or other quality-management-related certification systems.
  • Experience and basic knowledge of biofuel and/or commodities trading.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally between locations.

It’s an extra spark if you also:

  • Experience in renewable fuels, biofuels, energy commodities, trading, logistics or another closely related field.
  • Knowledge of Nordic renewable-fuels regulation, sustainability schemes or relevant EU frameworks, such as the Renewable Energy Directive and related transport regulation.
  • Experience working across countries and cultures, particularly in the Nordic region.
  • Basic familiarity with ESG or sustainability reporting, such as CSRD, while recognizing that regulatory and project-management expertise are the core of this role.
  • A positive, practical approach to using AI and new technologies to improve work and support change.
