Technical Project Manager

Swedish Match Denmark

On behalf of Swedish Match Denmark, Compass Human Resources Group is searching for a structured, self-driven, and technically strong Technical Project Manager to join Operations in Silkeborg. With a wide variety of technical and operational projects in progress – including several large-scale initiatives – Swedish Match is looking for a new colleague who can take full responsibility for projects from initial concept to successful implementation.

Swedish Match is a progressive, purpose-driven company working toward a smoke-free future through innovation and sustainability. This role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in an ambitious development journey.

From vision systems to robotic cells and track & trace

The project portfolio is broad and dynamic, ranging from minor improvements to more complex automation and IT-integrated initiatives, such as vision-based solutions with extensive IT and hardware integration, and automation projects featuring robotic cells and traceability systems.

The position requires both overall project control and hands-on involvement in all phases. The Project Manager is expected to act as the key link between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring project progress, structure, and high-quality outcomes.

Opportunity to elevate project leadership to a corporate level

Swedish Match is advancing its project governance and delivery frameworks to support continued growth and operational excellence. The incoming Project Manager will play a crucial role in bringing knowledge, experience, and best practices to help refine and scale project structures to a more corporate level. This role not only covers the execution of individual projects but also offers the opportunity to influence the wider project culture and contribute to future-ready, scalable processes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage technical and operational projects end-to-end – including planning, budgeting, documentation, and execution
  • Develop business cases and technical specifications in collaboration with relevant departments
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of technical solutions (FAT/SAT and validation)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Identify risks and deviations and follow up in a timely and structured manner
  • Document and evaluate projects with a focus on continuous learning and improvement
  • Actively shape scalable project models, governance structures, and execution methodologies across the organization

Experience and qualifications

The ideal candidate has solid experience with internal project management from a medium or large organization – preferably within pharma, manufacturing, or the food industry. A technical background combined with project leadership experience and a structured approach to process optimization is key.

Professional qualifications:

  • Technical education – e.g. Marine Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or similar
  • Project management experience and possibly a formal certification (e.g. IPMA, PRINCE2, PMP)
  • Practical experience in electrical systems and/or automation
  • Fluent in English and conversational proficiency in Danish
  • Confident user of MS Office and ERP systems

Personal characteristics:

  • Works independently and takes natural ownership of tasks
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Structured, persistent, and dependable in follow-up
  • Contributes with positive energy, initiative, and a solution-oriented mindset
