Lead the Technological Transformation of Sustainable Mining
Our operations are rooted in responsibility, innovation, and a long-term perspective. As we continue to modernize and future-proof our mining operations, we are now looking for a visionary Director Technology to join our Business Area Mines leadership team.
What you will do:
As Director Technology, you will be responsible for driving the strategic development and implementation of advanced technologies across our mining operations. You will oversee an organization of around 110 employees and directly manage four team members. You will lead a cross-functional team focused on mining and process technology, electrification, automation, and asset management – ensuring Boliden remains a global leader in sustainable and efficient mining.
In this role, you will also be the direct manager of four department managers and one specialist engineer, providing leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to ensure alignment with Boliden’s business goals.
The position is based in Boliden and is part of the Business Area Mines management team, and reports to the Chief of Staff. The role involves frequent travel to our sites.
Your responsibilities include:
- Lead the Technology function for Business Area Mines, overseeing innovation, R&D, and technical support across all sites.
- Develop and execute the technology roadmap in alignment with Boliden’s sustainability and productivity goals.
- Collaborate with site managers, project leaders, and senior executives to ensure technology initiatives deliver measurable business value.
- Drive digitalization, automation, and electrification projects that enhance safety, efficiency, and environmental performance.
- Represent Boliden in external innovation networks and partnerships.
- Manage and develop a team of four department managers and one specialist engineer.
What you bring:
- Proven leadership experience in technology within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable plans.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
- University degree in Mining Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in senior technical or operational roles.
- Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies in mining and processing.
