As McDonald’s continue their global expansion, they are looking for a dedicated and independent professional to take the lead in ensuring their continued position as front runner in the sustainable operation of their restaurants in the Nordics.
In the newly established position as Head of Sustainable Restaurants, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the sustainability strategy across restaurant operations in the Nordics. You will be balancing between managing strategic insights and operational excellence, as you ensure compliance with new legislations, driving key sustainability initiatives, and implementing sustainable practices into daily operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, regional leaders, and external partners to lead sustainability efforts and create a lasting impact.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring operational compliance with emerging sustainability regulations, legislation, industry standards and best practices in collaboration with legal and compliance teams.
  • Oversee the execution of key sustainability initiatives in restaurant operations through training programs in close collaboration with regional teams and local stakeholders.
  • Managing sustainability reporting, leading the collection and analysis of sustainability data related to restaurant operations in collaboration with both internal and external partners
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance sustainability performance through partnerships with external consultants, suppliers, and industry experts

Engineer with a passion for sustainable development

You most likely have a background in engineering and bring extensive knowledge in operational energy optimization.  You are driven by the opportunity to make a difference in making restaurants more sustainable, and you thrive in working holistically with sustainability, driving the process from strategic planning to practical implementation. Furthermore, you appreciate the collaboration between commercial business goals, and sustainability initiatives.
In addition, you have the following:

  • 5-10 years of engineering experience or of managing complex sustainability strategies within a built environment
  • 5 years of experience managing complex large-scale business projects in design, engineering, or construction
  • Capability in data analytics
  • Financial acumen
  • Degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
