Head of Tool Manufacturing

Inter Primo

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Tool Manufacturing to lead Inter Primo’s tool workshop in their brand-new Technology & Innovations Center. You thrive in a leadership role and derive satisfaction from seeing people grow and, consequently, the business flourish. You possess a hands-on approach to overseeing day-to-day operations and managing a team of 12 tool makers.

Job Description:

The tool production process revolves around a 4-stringed project process including Offer stage, Design, Manufacturing, and Tuning – with your responsibility lying in the middle. As Head of Tool Manufacturing, your role entails primarily motivating the team of tool makers. You plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, ensuring proper planning to enhance productivity and task management. The role also encompasses HR-related tasks such as recruitment, performance reviews, and individual professional development.

During the offer stage, you provide manufacturing input in terms of material costs and hours to ensure optimal figures for the quotation process across different Primo subsidiaries. You collaborate with internal project managers to ensure seamless order processing and communicate any changes or delays to relevant stakeholders. Maintaining an open-book policy regarding costs and processes is vital as clients are internal. Additionally, part of the job involves handling external suppliers and conducting benchmarking activities to remain competitive.

Another pivotal role is ensuring optimal utilization of machines, resources, processes, and systems. You analyze core data to improve machine utilization and productivity and participate in research and development activities to enhance processes, lead time, and tool quality.

As profit and loss responsible for the manufacturing department, you manage procurement and maintenance costs, contributing to monthly reports and the yearly budgeting process.

On the technology side, you continue the transition to the group ERP system, IFS. You ensure accurate financial follow-up within the system and stay updated on emerging technologies such as automation and AI, exploring opportunities for innovation in the manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

You possess a strong technical background combined with solid leadership experience, preferably gained in a tool shop environment. Experience in an international company is advantageous, while knowledge about plastic is beneficial but not mandatory. A good business understanding and commitment to a sustainable agenda are essential. Your educational background should stem from a tools and machinery environment.

You should thrive on technical challenges, embracing innovations such as AI, 3D printing, and new machinery. You are passionate about optimizing processes and motivating others to join in that path. You are a strong relationship-builder based on fairness and mutual respect.

You demonstrate a high level of responsibility and adeptness at making fast decisions. Your focus on customer satisfaction is relentless, driven by the desire to make a positive impact on both colleagues and Primo. You are consequent, self-driven, and possess the ability to execute. You are structured yet willing to try new approaches. Operating in a changing environment should be second nature, and flexibility should be a key trait. You need to be versatile, robust, and agile, capable of adapting to evolving circumstances and challenges with ease.
