Palsgaard A/S is an international company, and the world’s only full-service emulsifier and stabilizer company, developing sustainably produced ingredients with specialized properties for the food industry, polymers, animal feed, and cosmetics. Palsgaard invented the food emulsifier 100 years ago and are still leading in the development of emulsifiers and stabilizers. Palsgaard is on a journey to transfer their 100-year CSR-legacy to the new ESG agenda. They report on Co2-emissions in their entire value chain (including scope 3 for DK, starting 2023), and they are continuously working to reduce emissions. Palsgaard A/S, together with subsidiaries and other companies are part of the self-governing institution, Schou-Fondet, at the Palsgaard estate near Juelsminde between Horsens and Vejle. Palsgaard companies have approximately 400 employees in Denmark and approximately 300 employees globally in subsidiaries.
Responsible for the newly created shipping team.
For a newly created position, we are seeking a strong professional and ambitious leadership profile to spearhead the development and anchoring of the Shipping and Logistics department within the global supply chain. As Shipping Manager, you will be responsible for leading, motivating, and developing the shipping team while optimizing workflows, ensuring clarity on export procedures, and creating efficient processes across the global shipping setup. You will have the overall responsibility for freight at Palsgaard in Denmark, Malaysia, and Holland.
Your tasks include:
- Leading and motivating the team, ensuring well-being, clear roles, and interfaces.
- Establishing a global competence centre for guidance and consultation on export procedures.
- Ensuring ongoing identification and implementation of improvements in the supply chain, including optimization of the shipping processes.
- Ensuring optimal distribution and logistics between Palsgaard companies.
- Outbound freight for Palsgaard in Denmark, Malaysia, and Holland.
- Developing and implementing processes based on a best practice approach.
- Tender process, including freight negotiations.
- Freight optimization/cost efficiency.
- Freight monitoring, ensuring sharp and valid freight rates.
- Implementing the new ERP system Microsoft D365, with process responsibility for shipping.
You will report to the Supply Chain Director and join the Supply Chain management team. Your team will consist of 5 professional and experienced Shipping Coordinators and your main stakeholders will be the Warehouse Manager, the Planning Manager, and the Customer & Sales Support Manager, but you will have interfaces across most of the value chain. You will work out of Palsgaard’s main office in Juelsminde and should expect 10-20 travelling days per year.
Experienced Shipping Manager with profound managerial skills.
We are looking for an experienced Shipping Manager with an educational background at minimum bachelor´s/HD level or higher. You have profound managerial experience, ideally, from a similar position in a global company, possibly in the food or process industry. In your previous roles, continuous improvement and development of standards and processes as well as the team and shipping department has been at the top of the agenda. Since you will be involved in the implementation of Dynamics 365, experience with ERP implementation would be an advantage.
You have an operational and pragmatic approach and are familiar with building strong relationships with key stakeholders. You have a commercial mindset and high ambitions in everything you do. You are energetic and committed to success, which drives and motivates people around you. You have business acumen and strong negotiation skills. Furthermore, you are known for being professional, curious and a strong communicator with profound interpersonal skills. As Palsgaard is a global organization, we expect you to master Danish and English at a professional level.
